Scholarship for Sewing Classes
This gift provides Fiji women with useful sewing skills, experience and certification, helping them to gain employment.
The scholarship consists of 12 weeks of sewing classes based at Salvation Army Suva Central and Labasa Corps. Students are trained to use electric sewing machines, something that many of the attendees would not otherwise have access to.
After the course has finished, students each receive a certificate that details their sewing qualifications, giving them an advantage when seeking find employment or if they are looking to start their own small sewing micro-business.
